A make up tutorial - failed
I attempted to do up a make up tutorial and it looked really fabulous. But bad news guys.. My dog have to ruin everything.
I placed my camcorder on the tripod stand and it was chewing the stand's leg, having to topple everything over and hence, spoiling the lousy, fragile piece of red metal.
The screen went blank!! "Never mind", I thought optimistically as I still have my camera to record with. And so, happily, I placed my camera on the tripod stand, without sending the dog out of my room. WRONG CHOICE! Chew chew chew, it went again and DROPPED MY CAMERA TWICE!
Na bey. Lucky it didn't spoil (a prove that cameras, though cheaper, are more durable than camcorders which are freaking expensive but really lousy). So, I continued filming.
It (the camera) doesn't record with flash so all you can see is really dark images, so much so that I don't find any point in putting up the video as it is not clear anyway.
Am so so sad about my camcorder. It is still pretty new! Not sure if the warranty is valid for the reason "dropping on the floor" and I hope that they do not read my blog as I am most likely going to lie my way through for a free servicing.
So, just going to take pictures and try to explain my make up via words. Try to get your imaginative juices going as I am hereby going to start on my wordy tutorial.
I have no idea why my flash is not as bright as it used to be.
Anyway, let's start.
Apply liquid foundation first. Here, I am using the invisible foundation (by Red Earth). They comes in two type, the "invisible foundation" and the other one is the "perfection foundation". The difference between these two is the consistency and the coverage. Invisible foundation is lighter and more for daily use while I use the perfection for studio and shooting make ups.
Then I apply Red Earth concealer. It is the new one where there are all five colors for different uses. Green : to correct redness (I used it on the pimples and around the nose area where more capillaries are). Pink/Purple : to highlight face (I used it on the bridge of nose, chin and forehead with a bit on the apples of the cheeks.) Yellow/Beige : Mix them together to get your shade in 2 shades lighter (Applied on the dark eye circles and dark spots.) A concealer in your skin tone to cover the whole of your face (and I used the ZA concealer in No.1 shade along with the Red Earth Beige to get my shade.)
Then PAT on loose powder so that you don't smudge the concealer. This can also make your make up last longer.
There you have it, a perfect canvas.
Apply eye shadow primer in shimmer on upper eye lids. And the nude color on the bottom. If you do not have primer, use concealer. It is better than having nothing on. Eye shadow primer helps the color comes out in the shade from the palette and hence, creating a stronger shade.
Apply highlight all over brow bones and in the center of the lid.
Use the darkest shade of green (or other colors you fancy that day) and do the outer corner of your lid. Having the highlight in the middle helps you gauge where the color should not cross.
Then apply shimmer shade of green (or other colors you fancy that day) at the inner part of your lid, not crossing the shimmer center.
Blend out all harsh lines.
Having to done all those, touch up on your highlight again as it might be gone by then. The highlight in the middle of your lid will make your eyes "pop'' creating a three dimensional look.
Line the bottom of your lid with the darkest green (or any color you fancy) and using a blending brush, blend out the top lid so that there isn't any harsh lines.
You are done with the eye shadow part.
Using a pencil eyeliner, line the top lid. Then apply liquid liner to help color stay and increase the intensity. I don't use liquid eye liner (as it was bitten by the dog) so I used mascara and a small angled brush. Works the same!
Then brush on mascara on both the top and bottom lids. It is up to you if you want to don on the fake lashes but am not going to.
You have now dolly eyes.
For elaborated eye make up like what I have now, I try not to bring my blusher up to the temples. It can make you look really fierce. Only do that trick if you want to look stern (like a teacher or office lady o r high flyer) or have really neutral make up. For this case, I bring my blusher horizontally and across the bridge of my nose. Try not to apply on the tip of your nose as you don't want to look like the Red nosed reindeer.
Now, perfect flush!
For that kissable lips, it is way too easy. Apply lip stick. Don't fuss with any lip liners. They may be too much for a normal day.
That is all, I hope you can understand as it gets really complicated and half the time, I tried to keep my things simple but can be really confusing if there is no video to guide.
Hope you enjoy this tutorial and I would be back for more.
But baby, where they knock you down and out
Is where you're oughta stay
